Types of solo songs:
Lied (plural - lieder): A German solo songs during the Romantic Period that uses German poems as lyrics, it is written with a piano as a duet.
Aria: Is a solo song that is part of a larger piece- either an opera or oratorio and was any expressive melody.
Opera: Is a play that is sung, whilst people are acting.
Oratorio: A large musical composition including an orchestra, a choir and soloists but unlike operas they are strictly a concert piece, where everyone is standing still and are singing about religion.
